We are living in a world where everybody performs in order to be accepted, in our work we must perform to be promoted, in the society oftentimes we compromise in order to be accepted, even with our friends oftentimes we are afraid to reject or rebuke them because we always want to please them.
Even as child we perform in order to be loved by our parents, we should have high grades in school. We should be good enough in order to be loved by our mommy and daddy.
Parents compare their children with each other; there are competitions inside the Family..
WE ARE LIVING IN A PERFORMANCE ORIENTED WORLD.
Sad to say even Christians perform in order to be accepted and loved by God. If we can’t pray or read the bible or go to church or serve in the ministry, we fear of being cast out from the presence of God. We feel so unworthy if we don’t work or perform. We thought that by doing that we can please God and that if we fail to do those things, God will turn His back and withdraw His presence. We are living in a fear and condemnation.
Although we know and our head believes salvation is by grace, our heart drives us to earn favor to be “good enough”. We thought that “maybe if we are good enough we can serve the Lord, maybe we are good enough God will bless us, maybe if we are good enough God will love us…Oh, we feel so unworthy”
Remember this that Christ died for the unworthy, He died for us, when we were still sinners. God loves us for who we are not for what we can do for Him. The Father’s love for us is unconditional. We may fail and mess up our life. But He can still accept us and love us.
Just believe and accept His love for you. YOU ARE HIS BELOVED! not because you perform but because you are His child and that He is your “Abba” Father.
