I learned some facts about olive trees; they lived long with a life expectancy of 500 years. It’s the same with those who trust the Lord, they also lived long or should I say they live forever. God promised that if we trust and believe in His son he will give us everlasting life.
Another thing, olive trees are tenacious, it sprouts back even when chopped to the ground. Just like those who trust in His unfailing love, no matter how the enemy puts us down we will not be destroyed as what Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 6:9-10 “dying and yet we live on; beaten yet not killed, sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor yet making many rich; having nothing and yet possessing everything” Christians are stubborn, we will never give up because we know that our God can help us or deliver us in times of trouble, we won’t be alone in facing those hardships and trials, he will strengthen and empower us to go through those things.
Proper pruning is important for olive tree, it both regulates production and shape the trees for easier harvest. It’s the same with Christians, pruning is necessary for our growth. He wants us to be more and more like His son and that we might develop a Christ like character. Every time he prunes us, we bear much fruit.
Olive production is a multimillion dollar business. Just like us we are costly; we’re bought with a higher price, with the blood of His Son. That’s why we are so dear and precious in his eyes no matter how small we see ourselves.
Indeed King David is right when he said that if we trust in his unfailing love we are like a flourishing olive tree.Psalms 52:8 “But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God. I trust in God’s unfailing love forever and ever
