I’ve been taught that if you serve in the ministry then God will give the desires of your heart. Give and God may prosper you. Go to church that you may grow spiritually. Read the bible, pray, share the gospel that you may grow in your faith.
I came to believe that when I am spiritually low, tired and discouraged I need to attend fellowship or prayer meeting to be refreshed. These have become the duties and obligations of every Christian. If we fail to do all these things, we feel guilty, condemned and unspiritual. Well, I’m not saying that these things are wrong, but sometimes instead of being passionate and focus in Christ, we become so focus on our bible reading plan, or on how many hours we should pray or how many people we should share the gospel in a week.
It seems like Christianity becomes dos and don’ts, it becomes rules and responsibilities. Is Christianity really like that? Do you think if we pursue these things we are pursuing Jesus? Not really, Jesus said to his disciples “Follow me” and not follow this and that. Follow Jesus and effortlessly you will be able to do these things without forcing yourself. Pursue Christ and everything will follow. Pursue Him and the indwelling of Christ in you will be seen by others.
