Cantonese people love to eat, some even call them “greedy eaters”. There is this saying “the Cantonese eat everything except the planes in the sky, the vehicles on land and the ship on waters.” Well, I guess they are right, even these mud snails that live in ponds, fields and rivers couldn’t escape from the sharp eyes of the Cantonese.
We tried it once, we really didn’t like the taste, but they do love eating it 🙂 . Snail is a must have snack for Mid-autumn Festival.

It is common to see snake and crocodile meat in the market near our place, but scorpions, centipede and spider BBQ? No way, I haven’t thought anyone can eat those insects or animals, but this morning while walking in one of the shopping roads here, I saw a guy selling these arachnids and arthropods along with fried octopus, chicken wings, etc. I took the picture using my cellphone that’s why it isn’t clear.

Few weeks ago a friend of ours invited us to dine out in a Shangdong Restaurant, these are some of the food they ordered. It was our first time to taste these things. The taste??? it’s hard to describe.
There’s a funny saying here in China “they eat anything that has wings except airplane”
Something unique i found here, they believed that scorpions have medicinal values
