Rejoice Always….. I’m Trying

imageI came too early for the service yesterday, alone. The air quality index said it’s severely polluted, as much as possible we let our children stay indoor when the air is like this. My husband volunteered to babysit them. It was my first time to go out alone and was away for 4 hours, it felt odd though.

Our fellowship was in an apartment inside the university. It’s an international fellowship, mostly students from Africa, I sometimes felt like I was in Africa. We’re using three languages, English, French and Portuguese and sometimes Chinese yes I am probably the only person who doesn’t know how to speak Chinese, what a shame.

The place is small and oftentimes packed and cramped but no one really cares. We are blessed that we are allowed to have fellowship. There are limitations though since it’s in the building where teachers reside, we need to be quiet as much as possible. We can not just sing from the top of our lungs, we couldn’t play musical instruments.

Lately our life is full of challenges, my husband has no work until now. My visa was renewed for three months. I’m married to a Chinese national, still getting visa is not easy. We are still trying to find where we fit in the kingdom. We are just earnestly desiring to serve Him in whatever roles He called us to do. Our prayer is that He would be glorified with the outcome of our life.

Many things haven’t turned out the way we thought they should be. I guess that is how life is, we may not fully understand everything that’s going on in our lives, but one thing we know these are just temporary. The Lord is calling us to look up into His face and not to our injured and tired feet. He’s calling us to open our hands and just receive and enjoy His gift.

Each day is a gift, we’re grateful for letting us enjoy the simple things in life. As what Apostle Paul said Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NASB)

I AM the Savior, i am not.

I AM the great healer, i am not.

Embracing What God Has For Us

Picture is credited to my friend Joy, this was taken in Boracay, Philippines. I was permitted to use it.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your life everyday, ordinary life–your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life–and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Romans 12:1 The Message

A lot has transpired in our lives since moving here. My life here is very different with my life when I was in the Philippines, I was working and busy with the ministry, while here,I am a proud stay at home mother and wife

We had so many plans before coming here. Plans to be part of a “ministry” or start a “ministry”.  It’s been three years since we moved. Our first year was full of challenges, we struggled, we felt discouraged and disappointed, we hoped, we dreamed. But things haven’t turned out like we thought they would. Most of the things we planned didn’t materialize and the things we didn’t expect, happened. We have plans but the Father has other plans for us. Instead of fighting, complaining and struggling we learned to embrace what He’s doing in our lives. We learned to place everything before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for us is the best thing that we can do for Him, we surrendered  our wants, needs, plans, goals, visions, desires..everything. We took our life everyday, ordinary life–our sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life–and place it before God as an offering. We gave up our rights and expectations to what we do or where we go. We embraced what God has for us because that’s the best thing we can do for Him, in that way we honor and glorify His name.

Father, Your ways our not our ways, we praise you that you know the best. We depend on you to guide us. We know that you have better plans for us and you will surely direct our paths. Thank you for you did not allow our flawed plans to happen, because we know your plans are better and perfect than ours.

He Guides Us Along the Best Pathway

561768_101507308488Pp24451_832084450_9014316_1487849229_nThe LORD says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. Psalm 8:32

Wow this is a reminder, an assurance and the answer to our prayer for direction. He will indeed guide us along the best pathway and He will advise us and watch over us.

Indeed when we truly trust the Lord, He will not fail us, He will guide us, He will give us wisdom and not only that, He will watch over our steps, isn’t that amazing? He cares for us,  even the smallest and most trivial details of our life. We don’t need to worry anymore  and wonder if He really cares for us.

Don’t be self-sufficient and independent. Rely on God, depend on Him alone, He wants to help. He has given His Holy Spirit to guide us and that He may always with us.

I don’t want to struggle anymore about not getting the help available to us or whether what I am doing is right or where we are is the right place. As long as we depend on Him. Everything will fall in the right places. I just want to enjoy the life He has given us.

Heavenly Father, thank you for this amazing promise. Indeed you are guiding and watching over us. You are advising us on how to deal with our everyday life. May you remind me of this promise when I feel like our life has no direction or when I wonder if we’re being guided.

Counting the Stones

PhotobucketThen you can tell them, ‘They remind us that the Jordan River stopped flowing when the Ark of the LORD’s Covenant went across.’ These stones will stand as a memorial among the people of Israel forever.” Joshua 4:7 (NLT)

Oh, If I may count the miracles Your have done in my life, it would be like counting the sand upon the seashore.  If I may keep a stone for every miracle and amazing thing You have done, It would fill our house.  Many are the wonders You have done  and that I can’t even count them.

Yet I sometimes forget them. Forgive my forgetfulness, forgive my ungratefulness.  My heart is prone to forget Your goodness.

Oh Lord, that I may never forget them, that I may always remember them especially when I feel hopeless and discouraged. I may give back the glory that belongs to you alone.

Gifts and stones for these week. #61 to 72. I’m grateful for the following:

For the opportunity to share Christ to someone

For opportunity to pray for someone’s need.

For a husband who is thirsty for the Lord.

Healing my daughter from diarrhea.

Exposing what’s in my heart every time I read His word.

The books I am reading, I am encouraged, inspired and have learned a lot.

The library where I borrow books.

Western food every Sunday.

People who are generously offering their sit on the bus or train.

Seeing the smile from other people especially the old ones every time my daughter smiles at them.

For promoting us.

For renewing our Visa.

His Plans are too Numerous to Count

Psalm 40:5 ” O LORD my God, you have performed many wonders for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.”

I haven’t seen this verse the way I see it now, ah… the scripture is really overflowing with treasures

Indeed we will never lack any good thing.  Everyday He has something to offer. Everyday He has wonderful things prepared for us. His plans are too many to count and if we ever try to count them, we would never come to an end. He is an infinite God and so His goodness, His provision, His refreshment, His rest, His guidance, His peace, His joy, His comfort, His forgiveness, His love.

Today I want to thank Him for the following:

#51 for giving me a new beginning and hope every morning.

#52 for revealing what’s in my heart everyday, may it be sin, strength, weakness or traits that need to change. It makes me humble and know Him more in a higher level.  Every time He reveals something, I feel so broken and makes me worship Him more and more. It makes me appreciate more His love and His forgiveness.

#53 for a two-day rest He has given for my husband.

#54 for letting us celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary.

#55 for his grace to face the challenges of marriagehood and motherhood.

#56 for a generous sister.

#57 for giving me time to read books.

#58 for a thirsty soul like that of the deer pants  for water.

#59 an out-of-town with my family.

#60 for a nice weather today.

Father, may you remind me of this promise especially when I feel like I cannot see your plans for us. When our future seems bleak and our path seems dark and we cannot see your hands, remind us that you have a lot of things in store for us. In every situation we are into, remind us that your plans are too numerous and already established and that no one can change it. Amen!

God Loves Us Period

Luke 15:29 “Look all these years, I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends.

May the older brother did not know his position as the eldest son? Maybe his relationship with his father was based on obligation and fear and not based on love? Maybe he tried to please his father by performing but he never realized that all his father wanted was him. Maybe he did not know well his father? Maybe he never asked from his father and just waiting for his father to approach him or give him?

This story reminds me of out relationship with the Father; oftentimes we do not know our position as His child. We do not know or yes we do know but we really don’t believe that He is gracious God and loves to give us all our needs more than we ever ask for, that we have a Father who blesses us abundantly and that we never lack anything. The problem sometimes is our relationship operates on what the law says; you need to do this and that in order to receive this and that. You need to perform to earn his love. But no, God loves us period. His love is not based on our performance but is based on His Son Jesus Christ. There’s nothing wrong with the law but if you based your love for Him by obeying the law then you will only be frustrated because no one can obey the law 100 percent. Let your love be based on the love He has for you. As John said you love him because he has first loves us. Have confidence to come before him. Have confidence to ask for your needs because He loves to shower His children with blessings.

Today I am thankful for the following:

#21 I was able to attend the women’s conference with my daughter.

the picture is not really clear, I used my cellphone to take this, I forgot my camera

#22 We were able to attend the couples night with our daughter.

#23 Simple life.

#24 Living a thrifty life.

#25 The income that the Lord is using to meet our needs.

#26 The savings we have.

#26 Winter Clothes and shoes.

#27 The house we are staying.

#28 The bed we are sleeping.

#29 The toys that distract my baby when I’m doing something.

#30 The mop I’m using to clean the floor.
